Recognising Fake Cryptocurrency Investment Platforms

Fraudulent trading platforms often look polished. These are the warning signs that tend to appear before losses occur.

All insights

Fraudulent investment platforms frequently imitate the design and language of legitimate exchanges. They may show rising balances on a dashboard while no real trading takes place.

Common warning signs

  • Guaranteed or unusually high returns
  • Pressure to deposit more to 'unlock' withdrawals
  • Contact initiated through social media, messaging apps or dating sites
  • Withdrawal fees or 'taxes' that must be paid before funds are released

If a platform asks you to pay before you can withdraw, treat it as a serious red flag. Stop sending funds and keep records of all communication.
